Falcon Cove Middle Schoool
In October 2003, a middle school student at Falcon Cove Middle School read an article about Vanishing Species Wildlife in the Miami Herald's Action Line column. He went to his teacher and asked if he could get extra credit for donating supplies to Vanishing Species. His teacher liked the idea so much that he made the same offer to all of his students. The students spoke with students in other classrooms, and in the end, 3 classrooms of students compliled over $500 in supplies for Vanishing Species Wildlife in 4 days. We sincerely thank the student, his peers, teachers, and ActionLine for their generosity.
Tess's Selfless Act
In the fall of 2003, an 11-year-old girl named Tess Ryneal e-mailed Vanishing Species Wildlife asking how she could help the animals. There were two major problems. First, she was underage to enter our volunteer program. Second, she lived across the country in Oregon. One of the Vanishing Species? staff members e-mailed Tess back and told her the bad news, but offered her alternative ways of helping the animals from her home. Tess was informed that she could sponsor an animal, or do any type of fundraising activities to generate funds to care for the animals. Tess was very enthusiastic about fundraising and took it upon herself to set a goal of $400.00. After several weeks of selling lemonade to her neighbors, and asking friends for donations, Tess had managed to collect $200.00. She sent the money to Vanishing Species with a special letter to the staff. Vanishing Species is extremely thankful to Tess. There aren?t many 11-year-olds who share her selfless dedication and spirit. It just goes to show that, no matter how old you are, or where you live, there still lies the ability to help make a difference. A very special THANK YOU, Tess, from all of the staff and animals at Vanishing Species Wildlife.
Whole Foods, Inc.
Whole Foods of Plantation continues to donate fruits, vegetables, meats, and baked goods to our facility 5 days a week. These items make up a large part of most of our animals' diets.
